When metal is not an option
Some patients arrive with the problem already identified: a denture that caused a reaction, a lichenoid patch in the mucosa next to a crown, a dermatologist who confirmed nickel sensitivity. For them, choosing the material stops being a preference and becomes the first clinical criterion of the plan.
What monolithic zirconia adds
A zirconia unit is milled from a single block, with no covering layer and no metal framework underneath. That removes two problems at once: contact with alloys, and the dark margin that shows at the gum line over the years on a crown with a metal core.
Ozone and growth factors
Ozone is used as an adjunct antiseptic on early decay that does not yet need drilling, and in the surgical field. PRGF is prepared by spinning a sample of your own blood here in the clinic, and placed in the socket after an extraction or implant surgery so the tissue closes sooner.
Cutting as little as possible
A whole tooth will always outlast a rebuilt one, however good the work. Before reducing enamel or extracting, we look at whether a more conservative route offers a similar prognosis, even when it is more laborious to carry out.
Biocompatible does not mean abandoning the evidence: the materials and protocols are the same as anywhere else, chosen against one extra criterion.

01 What are the advantages of a zirconia implant over titanium?
Zirconia is ceramic and metal-free, which makes it suitable for patients with a diagnosed sensitivity to metal alloys. Aesthetically it avoids the grey margin that metal substructures can show if the gum recedes. Titanium, for its part, has a longer clinical track record. The choice is made case by case.
02 What is PRGF?
Plasma rich in growth factors: obtained from a sample of the patient’s own blood and applied to the surgical site to speed up healing and reduce post-operative swelling.
03 Does ozone therapy replace a filling?
No. Ozone is a useful antiseptic adjunct in early caries and in surgery, but it does not replace a restoration once tooth structure has been lost.
04 Is this alternative dentistry?
No. It is the same evidence-based dentistry, applying biocompatibility and minimal-intervention criteria to material selection.
